The Chicago Choro Club opened our doors as a Brazilian music school in September 2015.   Our mission is to spread the joy of this intricate and beautiful Brazilian cultural treasure to our community and beyond.

Julie Koidin, our founder and director, has visited choro schools in Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, and in various other cities throughout Brazil.   It is our intent to model the teaching structure after the "Brazilian way" of teaching - that is in listening, modeling and practicing together as a group.

The Chicago Choro Club is proud to be one of the only choro clubs in the United States.  As more non-Brazilian become smitten by choro's beauty, they are likewise creating clubs outside of Brazil, such as in Paris, Toulouse, and London.
